This is an ancient shrine founded in 986, located on top of a small hill overlooking the flow of the Tone River and the ships coming in and out of Choshi Fishing Port.
It has long been a sacred place for fishermen, who regard it as the guardian deity of the owners of the fishing boats that pass through the mouth of the Tone River and the people who work in the fishing industry.
